OBJECTIVE
Throughout history entrepreneurs have transformed society by generating innovative ideas and implementing them pragmatically. The Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) at IIMC is an initiative to achieve greater understanding of this process as well as stimulate its development for societal benefit. CEI’s vision is to be acknowledged as a programme of international renown, where students, faculty, alumni, industry and policy makers collaborate, learn and innovate.
CEI utilizes a Core Faculty Team, which brings multi-disciplinary skills and expertise to create a great team to educate, research and develop Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The team comprises of faculty from different functional areas and disciplines. The Core Team is currently led by Prof. B. N. Srivastava and Prof. Anjan Raichaudhuri.
CORE ACTIVITIES
CEI acts in 4 specific areas:
1) EDUCATION AND TRAINING:Offering various Entrepreneurship and Innovation courses for Post Graduate students, Practicing Managers, Entrepreneurs, Policy Makers and Support-Service Providers. Courses have been designed in consideration of current business realities of globalization, technological developments, e-commerce and outsourcing.
2) RESEARCH: Undertake research projects on various aspects of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. CEI aims to be a leading Centre in Entrepreneurship and Innovation research. IIMC has over the years produced a large number of Fellow Theses in topics related to Entrepreneurship and Innovation. CEI will build its research activities through the collaboration of experienced Faculty Guides and Participants. Where appropriate, the Centre will also seek international collaboration with leading institutions offering entrepreneurship research programmes.
Case Development:Cases will be developed by CEI to highlight different issues and dilemmas faced by Entrepreneurs and Innovators. These cases will be used in various CEI programmes with active participation of the Entrepreneurs and Innovators.
Case development work would also be carried out in collaboration with international partners in order to develop a genuine international portfolio of case studies.
3) VENTURE CREATION: CEI will provide support to creation of New Ventures by providing consulting services in evaluating opportunities, identifying resource requirements, assisting in resource acquisitions and managing New Ventures. Consulting activities will be directed to both individual or Small / Medium Entrepreneurs as well as Corporate Ventures.
Regular clinics and workshops will be organized to help entrepreneurs translate their ideas into practical ventures.
4. COMMUNITY OUTREACH: Entrepreneurship and Innovation are acknowledged drivers of economic growth. They create products, processes, jobs and wealth. Various activities that CEI will undertake in this area will include:
Awareness Programmes for teenagers.
Joint Programmes with Industry Associations.
Evaluation studies and reports for different Government Bodies.
Entrepreneurship and Innovation Forums to promote communication between Potential and Existing Entrepreneurs, Financial Institutions, Infrastructure Authorities, Policy Making Bodies, etc.
Collaboration with national and international institutions involved in promotion of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
Deployment of external resource persons to act as advisers.
Dissemination of research to influence and promote effective economic and social policy development.
