I belong to the Sociology Group of the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. He is trained in the disciplines of Economics, Sociology and Development Administration. Before joining the Institute I worked in the Planning Commission, Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, Shriram Centre for Industrial Relations and Delhi University. While in these organisations, I have conducted a number of studies and published reports and manuscripts in the area of social aspects of planning, impact of science and technology, commercialisation of agriculture, rural labour and sociology of economic development. My current interest among other include management of rural development, Small-scale enterprises, Population and Health Services, Agricultural Modernisation, Rural Industrialisation and Developmental Administration with particular emphasis on the Eastern and North East Region and has conducted a number of studies in these areas.
