ELIGIBILITY

We currently accept only MBA or Doctoral students (of business management or related fields) from our partner institutions. Though proficiency in oral and written English is required to follow the instruction at IIMC, there is no mandatory TOEFL/TSE requirement.

APPLICATION

If your Institute is among our exchange partners contact the Dean/Official in charge of your exchange programs for further details. A formal letter from the Dean of your Institute certifying that you are a bona-fide student of your Institute and confirming your selection for the exchange program must be submitted to us at least two months prior to the commencement of the term (see schedule for details). This is to ensure that you can apply for a visa as early as possible. You are also required to send us your CV(Curriculum Vitae – the CV must have a photograph) . The above materials can be faxed under the title “ATTN : STEP STUDENT “ to +91-33-24677174. Or you can mail us the documents (remember to add “ATTENTION STEP” to the top of the envelope) to :
            Ms. Soma Dasgupta
            STEP OFFICE
            Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta
            Joka, Diamond Harbour Road
            Kolkata – 700104
            West Bengal,
            India

After we receive these documents, we shall fax/mail you an undertaking from IIMC which indicates that you have been accepted as an exchange student at IIM Calcutta. This will help in your visa process. Post your selection for IIMC, you are anyway encouraged to be in constant touch through e-mail in case you have any doubts/ require any help with regard to any other formalities required prior to your arrival. In any case, about a month prior to your arrival here, we will assign you a student mentor who will help you with any questions that you may have and will subsequently aid you in getting settled on campus post your arrival here.
In the absence of any pre-registration, usually, you choose your courses after arrival here. The first week from the beginning of the term is usually designated as ‘shopping’ week where you can attend different course offerings and decide what courses you want to take. About one week into the term, you register for your chosen courses (notwithstanding the dates given the schedule)
If your institute is not one of our partner institutes, then you should get in touch with us at step[AT]iimcal.ac.in as well as the dean of your institute to initiate a relationship. We actively seek the best international business schools for an exchange tie-up.
