PGPEX VLM's Cohesion- Alum Talk Initiative


PGPEX-VLM boasts an alumni base of 15 years who are always eager to help the batch with their experiences. Every year seniors share their experiences through the alumni connect series. In a session conducted on July 2, 2022, Ms Tanvi Hait (alumnus of 8th batch), Senior Manager, Flipkart, explained to the cohort about Supply chain design in E-Com companies and the type of roles involved. She also shared insights into career options that one might have in the E-com sector – Planning, Operations, Warehouse, and Operation Excellence. She briefed about Inventory Management, Automation, Data Science, and Logistics related roles, how they are entangled, and how this glue together to achieve a Capex-free & Opex-oriented delivery. She encouraged the batch to know one's passion and work towards it by taking learning from the three institutes involved in the VLM program.
On July 9, 2022, Mr Gaurav Nanda (alumnus of 2nd batch), Vice President, Corporate Strategy, Aditya Birla Group, enlightened the future visionary leaders on various learnings of his long professional journey. He spoke about finding a mentor for professional guidance, investing in building a network that can help to further one's career, being a team player, being loyal to one's organization, and working for one's passion instead of working only for money as well as building one's brand. He also elaborated on various ways to plan one's career, do self-assessments, and emphasized the importance of them as it's our future and we need to make our career decisions and motivated the cohort to choose operations for their future career by citing the rising count of first time CEO's from operations background.
Mr Prashant Sinha, (alumnus of the 4th batch), National Head, Strategic Procurement, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Limited, spoke at length about formulating a procurement strategy for the future and integrating design to business objectives on July 9, 2022. He stressed the importance of identifying stakeholders and understanding their requirements as prerequisites of a suitable procurement strategy. He also discussed the importance of analyzing historical data and converting business requirements into functional requirements.
