Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta recently welcomed the 14th batch of MBA for Executives Programme, recently rechristened as MBAEx (One-year full time MBA Programme for Executives). Attuning to the global nomenclature of business management degree, the institute has also started awarding MBA degree instead of diploma for the students of this full-time 1-year residential programme.
The current Batch of MBAEx programme has 61 candidates (average age of 31 years) from diverse background (20 industries, innumerable functional areas and 53 organizations with an average work experience of 8.43 years. 35% of the batch has prior international work experience). The incoming 2020-21 batch has a median GMAT score of 690 with a maximum score of 770.
Apart from diversity in work experience, the current batch has a better gender mix compared to previous batch. Last year, the female candidates’ strength was 11% of the batch strength which has increased to 20% in this year.

Since the modest beginnings in the year 2006, MBAEx (Earlier PGPEX) programme of IIM Calcutta has come a long way to a stage where the world has started taking note of the programme. MBAEx programme has started participating from year 2017 onwards in the annual Financial Times(FT) MBA Global ranking with initial rank of 95th globally. It has entered into the list of top 50 MBA programme in the world according to the FT Global MBA 2020 ranking with an improved ranking of 42nd from 49th in FT Global MBA 2019 ranking. Among the parameters that the ranking focused on, IIM-C MBAEx performed the best amongst all Indian premier business schools in terms of value for money, career progression & inclusion of international board members.
