VIRTUAL ACTIVITIES DURING VIRTUAL TERM @IIMC

ALUMNI CELL

While the world came to a standstill, offices shut down and campuses became ghost towns, there was only one light uniting us all and that was the unwavering Joka spirit.

Capturing this spirit and building upon the ‘Never Back Down’ ingrained in us Jokars, we, the Alumni Cell of IIM Calcutta have risen to the challenges posed to bring you a bunch of inspiring stories & informational sessions.

We started with Mr. Vamsi Mohan Thati (President, South Asia Pacific at the Coca Cola Company) who educated us on the crucial learnings he acquired in his prolific journey from a newly minted MBA to the Regional Head of one of the world's largest beverage companies.

Next up we had Ms. Seema Bansal (Leader, Asia Pacific Social Impact Practice, BCG) as a part of Inter B School Speaker series in association with IIM A, IIM B, IIM L, FMS & XLRI. She delivered an enriching session on impact of COVID-19 on the development sector.

Keeping up with current issues plaguing our world and for a closer look on how this pandemic has affected the business ecosystem, we had a diverse and illustrious panel to discuss how COVID-19 has disrupted businesses.

As a part of our Inter B School series, we then had a stalwart of the written word and a fellow Jokar himself, Mr. Amish Tripathi of the Shiva Trilogy fame. Having found his own inner calling after doing an MBA, he guided us through the ebbs and flows of following one’s passion.

We also had the PGDBA Alumni Cell of IIM Calcutta present a webinar and panel discussion – ‘The New Business of AI’ covering the art of setting up Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence processes to create tangible business value.

In early August, we welcomed the newest members of the Joka Tribe, the 57th PGP batch and to make sure they don’t feel left out, we had Jokars from the 37th, 51st and 55th batches welcoming them with words of encouragement and their own Joka memories.

We rounded up the month of September by partnering with LLS Gamings to introduce an IPL fantasy league for the IIM Calcutta Community on their app called Ballebaazi.
