Programme Overview

The Executive Programme in Operations Management is designed to provide professionals with a strategic understanding of operations and supply chain functions in both manufacturing and service sectors. Building on foundational principles of Operations Management—such as process efficiency, resource utilization, and inventory planning — the program explores advanced topics, including supply chain analytics, design resilience, and contemporary cross- functional areas like sustainability and finance. The curriculum is structured into four modules, emphasizing both analytical rigor and real-world applicability, enabling participants to effectively manage and optimize end-to-end supply chains. In this programme, participants will learn to use tools such as mathematical programming, decision tree analysis, and simulation models to solve complex operational challenges. They will also gain insights into emerging technologies like blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT), and additive manufacturing within digital supply chains, along with the financial aspects of supply chain decisions through an integrated analysis of operations and financial metrics. This program is ideal for managers involved in procurement, logistics, production, and service delivery. Its aim is to enhance competitiveness, reduce operational risks through resilience, and drive innovation in today’s dynamic business environment. EPOM also includes a capstone project. Participants will work in groups on topics approved by the Programme Directors and present and submit their work by the end of the programme. The groups will be formed by the first campus visit and the capstone presentations would happen during the final visit.

Programme Objective

  1. This programme in operations management imparts knowledge in the form of process modeling and analysis for service and manufacturing operations.

  2. This programme brings in a unique capability of integrating design of operations strategy with tools in management sciences, information systems, cross-functional skills.

  3. One of the unique features of this programme is the project part where the participants are expected to apply some of the learnings in solving real world operations problems. This not only makes this course of practical utility to the participants but also the institute can leverage these diverse project reports into future case studies for MBA teaching with prior permissions to respect confidentiality agreements.
