Programme Overview

By ‘strategic mindset’, we refer to the capacity to frame problems, align resources and key stakeholders, and articulate aspirations in ways that serve the long-term viability of the organization. This programme seeks to nurture and focus the strategic mindset necessary for effective performance in a CXO role in a large organization facing a challenging competitive context. The programme is, therefore, anchored in five core questions rather than an assortment of themes. These five core questions will be dissected through case discussions, lectures, and experiential forms of learning to enable participants to develop a strategic agenda for their organization. The programme prioritizes enabling participants to see the link between the strategic mindset and organization-level actionability.

Programme Objective

‘Becoming a CXO: Developing a Strategic Mindset’ seeks to focus on foundational questions and ways of thinking that can lead to breakthrough insight while bypassing the usual anchoring in popular concepts and frameworks. This programme reorients the content towards five fundamental questions that enable participants to engage in discussion and reflection on how they might build a strategic mindset. Concurrently, the programme nudges participants to link insight (thought) to action (outcomes) for their organizations. The programme, therefore, focuses on the individual leader (in the context of their organization) and their dilemmas, tradeoffs, and paradoxes as they strive to lead their organizations to positions of long-term viability and performance.
