INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION ON THE APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Please contact your referees early and initiate the referral process to ensure that they submit the recommendation online within the due date. An application without the complete sets of referrals will be considered as incomplete.

  1. You are advised to go through the detailed eligibility and admissions criteria.
  2. For the SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PWD, need to upload/submit the copy of the RECENT/LATEST certificate.
  3. You may choose to apply to a maximum of two areas from the given choices (areas of specialization). However, there is no need to pay a second fee.
  4. Applicants are requested to fill up the referral information carefully. Referee Information has to furnish in the online application form. Once submitted, referee details cannot be changed. Two recommendations are required (mandatory) for a candidate applying for the Ph.D. Both the referees should be persons who are in a position to comment on your candidature. At least one referee should preferably be a faculty member of a university, college or institution of higher studies and research. The application will be treated as incomplete without these two recommendation details.ONCE THE REFEREE DETAILS ARE SUBMITTED, THE REFEREES WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL WITH THE LOGIN CREDENTIALS, WHERE THEY HAVE TO GIVE THE RECOMMENDATION ONLINE. NO HARD COPY OF THE RECOMMENDATION IS ACCEPTED.
  5. PLEASE NOTE THAT ONCE YOU SUBMIT THE REFEREE FORM, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO CHANGE THE AREA(S) OF SPECIALIZATION IN WHICH YOU HAVE APPLIED.
  6. The Application cannot be submitted without the payment of application fee. The SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PWD applicants (submitting copy of SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PWD certificate) are required to pay an application fee of INR 3000/- and all other applicants are required to pay an application fee of INR 5000/-. Payment can only be made by Credit/Debit Card and Net Banking (electronic fund transfer). A small processing fee (up to approx. INR 30/-) as applicable will be charged by the Bank/Debit Card/Credit Card Company. 
     
    The INR 3000/- / 5000/- application fee (wherever applicable) is non-refundable and will not be refunded under any circumstances.
  7. In the Other Information Page you can only upload doc, pdf, jpeg and txt files of your Credentials.

Writing & Research:

Please upload any published or unpublished research work which you might have completed. You may give abstracts or summaries if the entire document cannot be uploaded.

ELIGIBILITY

    1. The candidate must have a minimum of 8 years (full-time) managerial/entrepreneurship/ professional experience after graduation at the time of applying for the programme.
    2. In addition to the experience requirements, a candidate must meet at least one of the following academic eligibility criteria: 
        a. A First Class Master's or Post graduate diploma (2 years) in any discipline and a three-year bachelor degree with at least 50% marks in aggregate; OR A First Class 1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-years/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme with at least first class or equivalent percentage marks in aggregate; OR 
        b. CA with minimum 50% marks or CS/CMA with minimum 55% marks, with B.com degree with at least 50% marks in aggregate; OR 
        c. 4-years/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 6.5 CGPA or its equivalent percentage marks in aggregate; OR 
        d. Equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.

In addition, applicant must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in either the Secondary or the Higher Secondary Examination of a Board (or equivalent).

A No-Objection Certificate from the candidate's employer organization must also be submitted at the time of admission.

It is recommended that candidates review the faculty research profiles in their chosen areas of specialization to better understand the research interests of the faculty. A candidate can apply for two specializations only.

Reservation:

Government of India guidelines for reservation are followed during admissions.

Note: Candidates will be invited based on the eligibility criteria and their submitted applications. Invited candidates will appear for a Research Aptitude Test (RAT), and Personal Interview (PI) in-person at the IIM Calcutta campus. Admission offers for the Executive Ph.D. Programme will be extended to successful candidates well in advance

For the AY 2026-27 : The programme/classes will start in the last week of October’ 2026.

All Admission-related decisions will be made by IIM Calcutta.

Admissions Requirements:

The following conditions may lead to your ineligibility or cancellation of your application (or admission offer) at any stage of the admission process:

  • If you have submitted more than one application form.
  • Misrepresentation or suppression of any information/data in the application form, including use of unfair means to complete the application form (including plagiarism of content).
  • Submission of incomplete application form.
  • Informal recommendation/s or canvassing from any individual/s or organization/s (apart from the requirements mentioned in the application form).
  • If you do not meet any of the requirements at any stage of the admission process.
  • If you have been expelled or withdrawn from any programme of IIM Calcutta prior to submitting your application.
