The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) invites applications for faculty positions in the areas of Business Ethics & Communications, Economics, Finance & Control, Human Resource Management, Strategic Management, Marketing, Management Information Systems, Operations Management, Public Policy and Management and Organizational Behaviour (please see below for additional details on the requirement in specific areas). Candidates are expected to conduct high-quality research, contribute to our vibrant and expanding programs at the post-graduate and doctoral levels, participate in the Institute’s engagement with the professional community, and engage in administration/service to the academic and research communities. Endowed chair positions may be available for exceptional candidates. Candidates should have an excellent academic record, good communication skills, a commitment to high-quality learning, and demonstrated ability/potential to carry out original and creative research. ABOUT IIM CALCUTTA
IIM Calcutta was established in 1961 as the first national-level institution in the field of management education by the Government of India in collaboration with the Sloan School of Management at MIT, and with the support of the Government of West Bengal and the Ford Foundation. Our campus is renowned for its natural beauty, with housing available for faculty members. Base salary is as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Professor: Ph.D. with first class at the preceding degree or equivalent in the appropriate area with a very good academic record and a minimum of ten years of Teaching/Industry/Research experience of which at least four years should be at the level of Associate Professor at IIMs or other peer institutes in India/ abroad.
Associate Professor: Ph.D. with first class at the preceding degree or equivalent in the appropriate area with a very good academic record throughout and a minimum of six years of Teaching/Industry/Research experience, of which at least three years should be at the level of Assistant Professor at IIMs or other peer institutes in India/ abroad.
Assistant Professor: Ph.D. with first class at the preceding degree or equivalent in the appropriate area with a very good academic record throughout and at least three years of industrial/research/teaching experience is desirable, excluding, however, the experience gained while pursuing Ph.D.
For all regular faculty positions, candidates with proven track records of publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals would be preferred. Demonstrated success in teaching is desirable.
For an appointment into a regular faculty cadre (Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor), there would be a minimum probation period of 2 years.
Salary and Perquisites will be as per Government of India norms.

- Short-listed candidates will be required to (a) make a seminar presentation on a research topic of their choice and (b) appear in a personal interview with the Faculty Selection Committee.
- Based on the circumstances, there will be an option to conduct the seminar and interview via videoconferencing mode.
- Applications incomplete in any respect will not be entertained by the Institute.
- Candidates who have submitted their thesis may also apply but if selected, position will be offered only after the award of the Ph.D. Degree.
- Without any compromise on eligibility criteria and academic requirements, reservation as per Government of India rules will be applied.

- The Institute reserves the right to fill or not to fill any or all the posts advertised.
- Mere fulfillment of the qualifications and experience requirements laid down does not entitle a candidate to be called for an interview.

AREA POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
Business Ethics & Communications:
Assistant Professor for Ethics: Applicant has a Ph.D. preferably in Philosophy, research active in moral philosophy (both western and Indian) and its relevance to management (will be an added advantage), with 0-2 years of teaching experience in related areas.
Assistant Professor for Communication: The applicant has a PhD in Communication (viz. Corporate/Social Media/Digital/Computational/Rhetoric/Applied/Linguistics/Analytics/Ethnography) and demonstrates competence in teaching and research within the context of a management institution. Orientation in critical thinking and contemporary/diverse methodological approaches desired.
Economics: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. We are looking for candidates with strong research interests in the area of Macroeconomics.
Finance & Control: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. We are looking for candidates with strong research interests in any one or more of the following areas: Financial Reporting and Disclosures, Asset Pricing, FinTech, Alternative Investment Management, and Banking, Financial Services & Insurance (BFSI).
Human Resource Management: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. We are looking for candidates with strong research and teaching interests in the area of Strategic and Operational HRM and Employee/Labor Relations.
Strategic Management: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. We are looking for candidates with strong research and teaching interests in all subfields of Strategy, Entrepreneurship and International Business.
Marketing: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. We are looking for candidates with strong research and teaching interests in the areas of Sales, Distribution, Retailing, Product and Brand Management, Consumer Culture Theory and Critical Theory, IMC and Digital Marketing, and Marketing Analytics.
Management Information Systems: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. We are looking for candidates with strong research and teaching interests in the areas of Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Enterprise Systems, E-commerce & Mobile Commerce, E-governance, ICT for Development, Social Media Analytics, Machine Learning, Industry 4.0, Decision Support System, Cybersecurity, and allied fields.
Operations Management: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. We are looking for candidates with strong research and teaching interests in Operations Management (OM), Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing 4.0, Sustainable Operations, Game Theoretic Applications in OM, and Operations Analytics. Candidates with interests in cross-functional research with emphasis in OM area may also apply.
Public Policy and Management: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. We are looking for candidates with expertise in the area of urban governance
Organizational Behaviour: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. We are primarily looking for candidates with strong research and teaching interests in micro-OB/ I-O Psychology/Social Psychology. However, we encourage candidates with focus on other areas (such as macro-OB or OT) to also apply.
