Dramatics Cell | IIM Calcutta

Over a span of five decades, Dramatics Cell has stood at the heart of IIM Calcutta's cultural life – a space where stories are written, performances are crafted, and the voices of Jokars through generations echo in the wings.

It is the abode of storytellers, performers, directors, writers, and everyone who believes in the transformative power of theatre. Here, creativity is not merely encouraged; it is challenged, refined, and brought to life.

Each year, we stage multiple theatrical productions that reflect rigorous writing, rehearsals, design, and collaboration. At the heart of this ensemble lies the 7 Lakes Fest Production, our flagship play. We also perform the much-awaited Faculty Play, where professors and students share the stage in a celebration of theatre that transcends conventional roles.

Beyond the auditorium, the Dramatics Cell continues to shape the campus's cultural landscape through immersive experiences such as Murder Mysteries, workshops, street performances, and interactive events that bring the entire IIM Calcutta community together. Laughter, suspense, satire, or social commentary, every emotion is powered by the same belief, that of telling stories which hold the power to inspire, build communities, and leave the audience with a lasting impression.

For us, theatre is not bound by the performances we stage. It is an eclectic mix of collaboration, discipline, empathy, and expression. DRAMS is where strangers convene into ensembles, ideas become stories, and those stories travel across time to become memories.
