Pride of Joka (PoJ) is the official LGBTQIA+ Special Interest Group at IIM Calcutta created in 2021 towards shaping a campus environment where diversity and belonging are not just ideals, but gradually take root. Through a mix of student-driven initiatives and thoughtful collaborations, PoJ’s presence is becoming increasingly felt on campus as it received the highest student body SIG rating (Term 3/6, AY 2024-25).
Besides facilitating awareness events and DEI-themed case competitions in association with corporations and other IIMs, we also collaborate with other cultural bodies on campus to develop foregrounding for responsible conduct and inclusive spaces. From having the first Pride March in an IIM (2022) to the Equality Summit (2025) featuring industry leaders and educators, we enable the institute’s broader engagement with questions of inclusion both on campus and in professional settings.
In the rush for corporate ambition, it's often overlooked how much it means to have a space where you can be yourself. PoJ tries to create such spaces where queerness is respected and the campus community can engage with the evolving discourse around allyship and representation. Because at Joka, we leave no one behind! <3
