We have listed hotels that are within an approximate one-hour travel time from the IIM Calcutta campus. The options span from premium 5-star properties with world-class amenities to more affordable, business-friendly choices.

Helpful Suggestion: If convenience and reduced travel stress are priorities, particularly during busy conference days, the 3-star hotels located close to campus may be a practical option. For participants who prefer luxury facilities and comprehensive services, the 5-star Premium hotels are an excellent choice, though they generally require a longer commute.

Travel times are approximate and can vary with traffic conditions. We encourage participants to plan their journeys with sufficient buffer time, so they arrive comfortably and without rush.

Reaching IIM Calcutta

The Joka Campus of the Institute is situated on the Diamond Harbour Road, about 20 km from the Howrah Station, 18 km from the Sealdah Station, and 35 km from the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. The campus is about 2 km south of the Joka Tram Terminus and about 3 km south of the Thakurpukur Bus Terminus.

To reach the IIM Calcutta Joka Campus, you may avail the services as mentioned below:

• Buses: The Calcutta State Transport Corporation (CSTC) operates frequent buses all across the city, including Joka. While most buses operate till the Joka metro station (approximately a 10-minute walk from the campus gate), some might pass the campus main gate.
• Metro: The Joka‑Taratala Metro (Purple Line) connects Joka with Taratala. The Joka metro station is approximately a 10-minute walk from the campus gate. The North-South Metro (Blue Line), consists of 26 operational stations from Dakshineswar to Kavi Subhash. The nearest metro station to Joka on the Blue Line is “The Mahanayak Uttam Kumar” (Tollygunge) metro station. The Blue and Purple lines are yet to be connected.
• Taxis and app‑based rides: Kolkata’s yellow taxis and app services such as Uber, InDrive, Rapido, Ola, and Yaatri Sathi are widely available; they provide door‑to‑door service and are convenient for reaching the campus.
• Auto‑rickshaws: Shared auto‑rickshaws ply short routes connecting various parts of South Kolkata (e.g., Taratala/New Alipore, Behala, Rashbehari, Gariahat, Tollygunge) to Joka, either through one or two rides (e.g., Gariahat → Taratala → Joka).

Travel within Kolkata: For those interested in travelling within the city, all of the aforementioned transport options are widely available throughout the day, connecting all parts of Kolkata. Apart from these, suburban railway services and ferries connect various parts of the city, with the latter being a good option for traversing across the Hoogly river.

Getting to IIM‑C from the airport/railway station

We recommend using pre‑paid or ride-sharing (Ola, Uber, InDrive, Yaatri Saathi) taxis from the airport or railway stations to reach the campus. A taxi ride may take anywhere between 1.5-2 hours from the airport, and around 45 minutes-1 hour from each of the railway stations, depending on traffic conditions.
