Programme Overview

Offered by IIM Calcutta in collaboration with the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) India, the Executive Programme in Wealth Management & Planning prepares professionals for a wealth management landscape being reshaped by AI, digital innovation, regulatory complexity and changing client expectations. As personal finance grows more complex — wider investment choice, longer life expectancy, inflationary pressure, greater individual responsibility for financial security and, in India, rising retail participation and a shift towards goal-based planning — the demand for skilled, ethical and client-centric advisors has never been greater. The programme builds strong foundations across investment planning, portfolio construction, financial markets, taxation, insurance, retirement planning and advisory practice, and equips participants to critically evaluate and responsibly apply AI-enabled tools — robo-advisory, data-driven investing and digital advisory platforms — within evolving regulatory and ethical frameworks. Aligned with the competency requirements of NISM Investment Adviser certifications (Level 1 & 2), it is highly relevant for professionals in investment advisory, wealth management, financial distribution and relationship management roles. By combining academic rigor, industry relevance and technological insight, the programme aims to develop future-ready professionals capable of delivering intelligent, ethical and technology-enabled wealth advisory solutions in a dynamic financial ecosystem.

Academic Collaboration
Co-hosted with FPSB India, the programme gives participants the opportunity to fast-track their journey towards the globally recognised CFP® certification. The CFP education component follows a curriculum aligned with the educational requirements set by FPSB Ltd. and comprises four specialised courses, each with a corresponding examination:

  • FPSB® Investment Planning Specialist
  • FPSB® Retirement and Tax Planning Specialist
  • FPSB® Risk and Estate Planning Specialist

This integrated pathway combines academic rigor with an industry-recognised certification, enabling participants to build credible and future-ready careers in wealth management and financial advisory.
