Gaurav Gupta completed his dissertation titled “Evolution of business models for ICT based startups: A case-based examination of antecedents, execution strategies and outcomes” under the guidance of Prof. Indranil Bose. In his doctoral thesis, he examined the process of business model transformation in technology startups by examining four high technology startups at different stages of growth, from diverse entrepreneurial ecosystems. He identified the dominant factors (both environmental and organizational) impacting the business model transformation process for them and closely examined their interactions with a focus on specific business model components.
With his close relationships with the industry, he developed various case studies some of which have won him prestigious awards like the EFMD Case Writing Award 2018 and the CEEMAN Emerald Case Writing Award 2018. Beyond these, his research has also appeared (or is forthcoming) in journals like Information & Management, Technological Forecasting & Social Change, Annals of Operations Research and Australasian Journal of Information Systems.
After completing his PhD. From IIM Calcutta, he joined NEOMA Business School in Rouen, France as Assistant Professor. His current research interests include technology entrepreneurship, digital business transformation and strategic information systems.
