Sarthak Mohapatra completed his PhD titled ‘Essays on Bottom-of-Pyramid Marketplace Dignity’ under the guidance of Prof. Ramendra Singh. His dissertation, comprising three interlinked essays, engages with the critical imperative of preserving dignity in poverty-stricken marketplaces. His research interests lie at the intersection of subsistence markets, spirituality, and dignity.

During his doctoral journey, Sarthak published research articles, case studies, and working papers, and presented his work at several prestigious national and international conferences. Notably, he received the Best Paper Award at the DOCMAD Conference organized by IRMA in 2022. He has also qualified the UGC Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Management.

Before pursuing his doctoral studies, Sarthak earned an MBA in Rural Management from XIM University, Bhubaneswar, and a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from Odisha University of Technology and Research.

Beyond academia, Sarthak is a trained Indian classical vocalist and instrumentalist, and enjoys playing volleyball and badminton.
