The CEMS curriculum has been well-planned and designed effectively to ensure that the objective of combining academic knowledge with real-life business practices are met. Students get an opportunity to effectively utilize class-room knowledge in live business situations confronted by global enterprises regularly. Eventually when students graduate from their MIM program, they are armed with knowledge and the experience to perform effectively in their future assignments.
The course is integrated through 5 main categories:
BLOCK SEMINAR -
The CEMS MIM program begins with an intensive and concentrated week long session for students called a Block Seminar. It is normally held just before the CEMS Term begins. The seminar is based on an innovative management topic, which is developed and run by teachers from different disciplines of management with participation from Corporate Partners who bring in the practical aspects of learning. Block seminars are graded.

The academically and culturally intensive experience is an ideal starter for students to the MIM programme. Class identity is set up and student networking begins; the stimulation of student-professor dialogue, in which companies can join, is initiated. Thus, intensive group dynamic and concentration on the seminar are essential characteristics of the seminars.

SKILL SEMINAR -
Skill Seminars are training seminars in practical skills relevant to an international management environment. Skill Seminars are organised primarily to introduce and impart practical skills required to function effectively in an international organisation. Emphasis is given on introducing students to essential core skills such as business communication, group work abilities, intercultural skills, international negotiation techniques etc. Skill Seminars are not graded; the emphasis is on training not on assessment of performance. A total of two, 16 hour each, seminars are to be attended to complete the curriculum requirement.
BUSINESS PROJECT -
Business projects have a flavour of a consultancy project wherein international student teams solve a real-life business problem faced by a company. Business Projects are designed as a real-life learning experience for students. International student teams solve a company’s real business problem in a consultancy-like project, while training for process management, result orientation and team building. The following aspects determine the character of a CEMS Business Project:
- Companies provide problems that require a solution.
Priority is given to CEMS Corporate Partners but projects can also be carried out with other companies.
- Academic Advisors formulate the problem with the company and define expectations.
- Business Projects are tutored by the company and the Academic Advisor in parallel.
- Each CEMS student has to do a Business Project during Term 2; it represents 50% of the workload.
- Teams consist of 4–5 CEMS students, ideally 2-3 local students and 2–3 incoming students from different countries.
- Student teams present the results in a final report and an oral presentation. They are graded by the Academic Advisor, who takes the company tutor’s evaluation into account.
INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP -
Students are expected to undertake a minimum of 8 weeks international internship project outside the country of the home school. Internships provide students with a real life professional learning experience by integrating them into an organisation’s culture and processes. During the internship, students apply their academic knowledge to practical real-life situations faced in corporate environments.
The main objective of an internship abroad is to turn academic experience and theoretical knowledge into a professional, intercultural experience. Internships can take place at a CEMS Corporate Partner, although this is not compulsory. They can also take place at a non-profit organisation such as in a humanitarian mission, provided responsibility levels correspond.
RESPONSIBLE GLOBAL LEADERSHIP SEMINAR (RGL) -
This seminar is a two day experiential learning component of the CEMS MIM program which brings together representatives from Corporate and /or Social Partner, professors and students.

a. Mandatory courses will be offered during both terms viz. a course on International or Global Strategy in Term 1 and a course on Global Management Practice in Term 2.
b. Elective courses offered during PGP Term 5 (MIM Term 1) and PGP Term 6 (MIM Term 2) can fulfill credit requirements
c. Business Projects will be offered during PGP Term 6 (MIM term 2)
d. Skill Seminars will be offered during both terms
e. Responsible Global Leadership Seminar will be offered at the beginning to Term 2
