What is the last date for submission of the application form?

For the 2025-26 session: 

  • The first round of the application procedure will start on July 8, 2024 and the last date for submitting your application will be August 20, 2024.
  • For the second round, the application procedure will start on August 21, 2024 and the last date for submitting your application will be October 15, 2024.
  • For the third round, the application procedure will start on October 16, 2024, and the last date for submitting your application will be November 26, 2024.

What is the check list of application related documents?

The check list of documents are as follows:

  • Duly filled-in application form
  • Application fee paid by demand draft / through Payment Gateway
  • Original GMAT score card reported through Pearson VUE
  • Self attested scanned copies of original certificates and mark sheets / transcripts of examinations passed / degrees obtained.
  • Documents related to work experience [Joining letter, relieving letter wherever applicable, experience/service certificate, salary slips of first and last months of the respective organisation (s) where one has worked.]
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Two Letters of Recommendation

What is the minimum GMAT score required for application?

There is no minimum GMAT score required for application. Participants will be selected through a rigorous selection process based on their relative ranking comprising of GMAT score, academic background, professional experience, personal interview, statement of purpose and recommendation letters from two referees.

Do you have any age limit for this course?

There is no upper age limit for application.

As of what date the applicant should have a minimum 5 years of work experience?

Applicant should have 5 years of post-qualification professional experience as of March 31, 2025.

What is the last date for taking the GMAT test for applying for batch 2025-26?

Applicant should take GMAT well in advance so that the application form may be submitted along with the GMAT score. Unofficial GMAT scores may be submitted along with the application form (within the last date of application) in case the official GMAT score is not received within that date. In the latter case, the applicant has to report the GMAT scores to the programme through Pearson VUE, before the date of interviews, if selected for the same. The GMAT code for the MBA for Executives Programme is 9CP- HT-99.

The applicant provides their GMAT score details in ONLY the application form or is there a need to arrange independent submission of GMAT score through Pearson VUE?

Applicant needs to submit the GMAT score along with the application form. Further, the applicant should also inform Pearson VUE to directly send the score to the MBAEx Office by the due date, before the last date of submission, and this is mandatory. The GMAT code for the MBA for Executives Programme is 9CP-HT-99 and is also mentioned in the application form. Please also select “Post Graduate Program for Executives” in the exam form.

What are the additional expenses to be borne by a participant?

Over and above the programme fees mentioned, please note that other charges such as for electricity, food, expenses of personal nature are not covered by these fees and will have to be borne by the individual students.

Whether loan facility will be available for funding the course expenditure?

Are any scholarships available?

As on date, scholarships are not available for the MBA for Executives Programme participants

Is an applicant informed if not selected or short-listed for interview?

We will inform the applicants, who are short-listed for interview. Further, we will send letters of admission to the selected candidates. We regret that we will not be able to communicate with applicants who have not been short-listed or selected for admission to the programme.

Will placement assistance be available after completion of the course?

Placement assistance will be provided to all participants except those participants who are sponsored by companies. Please note that the Institute does not guarantee placement to the participants. Participants who are employed must produce in original, the letter of release from the employer or the employer’s receipt of the letter of resignation at the time of registration. In case of employed applicants who have signed a bond with the employer, a letter from the employer must be produced at the time of registration, stating clearly the status/nature of the bond between the applicant and the employer. If a student has taken leave from his/her company to join the programme, then there must be a letter from his/her employer to that effect. In case the applicant is on leave/lien from a company during the tenure of the programme, a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) from the company must be submitted to avail of the Institute’s placement facilities. This must clearly state that the employee can avail of the placement services provided by IIM Calcutta.

Will accommodation be provided on campus?

We will provide furnished accommodation on campus. Residing outside the campus is not permissible. The institute will take the final decision with regard to allotment of all hostels.

Will the course provide specialization in a functional discipline like Finance, Marketing, Systems, Operation etc.?

MBA for Executives Programme is a general management programme. As a part of the programme, the participants will have to take 15 elective courses during the 4th, 5th and 6th terms from the total number of electives offered. This would be across all major functional disciplines.

How much is the International exposure?

The MBA for Executives Programme students are required to undertake an international immersion module as part of the curriculum. This includes company visits and academic sessions at international business schools. No separate fees are payable by the students for this module. The Institute takes care of airfare, accommodation, visa and medical insurance charges. Expenses for food are also subsidized.

In the Application Form, at least one of the reference letters is produced by someone from the industry who is familiar with applicant’s professional experience. Is it possible to submit both of the reference letters from persons in the same organization?

Yes, you can.

Statement of Purpose: What is exactly being sought here? Is the applicant expected to mention the purpose of entering into the course?

SOP should include an objective and clear statement on: why do you want to join the MBA for Executives Programme; what qualities, experience and achievements do you have to justify your admission; what type of jobs and at what level do you expect after successful completion of MBA for Executives Programme?

The medium of instruction in school was not English but in college the applicant studied English. Is there requirement of proof of proficiency in English? With all related tests like TOEFL, TWE and IELTS?

Applicant need not take any separate test for proficiency in English.

Applicants may apply with graduation undertaken through a 2-year course?

No. Applicants are required to have a minimum of 3 years of undergraduate study after 12 years of school education and the graduation should be from a recognized university or equivalent.

Does applicant need to buy hard copies of brochure and application form?

No. Both the MBA for Executives Programme application form and the brochure can be downloaded from the Institute’s website www.iimcal.ac.in/pgpex. The form needs to be duly filled-in and submitted with all relevant details and testimonials along with the application fee of Rs. 4,000/-which is non-refundable. The MBAEx admission brochure will be uploaded soon.

Will the participant be a part of IIMC alumni?

Yes, the participants will be part of IIMC alumni upon successful completion of the programme.

Is it possible to take a few days of leave, if required during the programme?

There is usually one week’s break during the entire course. The final decision in this regard is taken by Competent Authority.

If applicant is selected for the academic year (2025-26) and unable to join, there is provision for joining in next batch (2026-27)?

There is a deferred admission policy in MBA for Executives Programme, subject to rules and the approval of Competent Authority.

Where will the interviews be held?

The cities where interviews will be held are mentioned in the application form - Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi. Overseas candidates will be interviewed online. You should indicate your venue preference in the application form.

Applicant had to send the original testimonials along with the application form?

No. However, the originals have to be produced at the time of registration. Self-attested scanned photocopies of all relevant documents should be uploaded along with the application form.

Will CAT scores be considered for instead of GMAT score?

We regret that CAT scores are not considered for MBA for Executives Programme.

Is there any consideration for sponsored candidates?

Regret there is no consideration. All candidates will have to appear for the selection process as mentioned earlier.

Will all applicants who fulfil the eligibility criteria be called for the interview?

No. Only a certain number of applicants will be called for the interview based on the comparative parameters (academic qualifications, work experience, career summary, GMAT score, SOP, recommendation letters) furnished by the applicants. Regret, fulfilment of eligibility criteria is not the only benchmark for being called for the interview.

Who should attest the documents?

Self-attested scanned documents will be accepted, subject to verification with the original as and when necessary.

The company in which the applicant worked some years ago does not exist anymore. And s/he does not have any letter/certificate with her referring to the above-mentioned work experience. What should the applicant do?

It is essential that the applicants provide the relevant documentary support; in case the applicant does not have certificate of experience then please provide other useful documents like Letter of Appointment etc. Therefore, in any case, the information needs to be supported by some kind of relevant ‘verifiable’ documents.

How will the international work experience be counted?

We consider applicants work experience documents issued from their company where dates of international work experience are mentioned. Please note that visits to international locations for participation in any conference/meetings/workshops or business trips are not considered as international work experience. Only full-time work in a foreign location (other than applicant’s home country) with legitimate documents which include offer letter/appointment letter and salary slips, will be considered as international work experience.

Do part-time jobs count towards the minimum work experience requirements?

If applicants are applying for 2025-26 batch, they must expect to have at least five years of full-time, post-graduation work experience by March 31, 2025. No part time jobs will be taken into account.

Applicant may apply more than once in a single academic year?

Applicant may apply only once in a single academic year.

Does the programme award a Degree or a Diploma?

The MBAEx programme fulfils the criterion to be considered as MBA as per global accreditation organisations and features in the coveted ‘Global MBA Ranking’. The programme is of international repute and competes in the one-year MBA section of global rankings viz Financial Times. Moreover, IIM Act also wants the Institute to compete globally. The programme has been continuing since 2006, and over the years, an integrated course package for this programme has been developed and updated annually. The students come with diverse work experience from various backgrounds and industries, making peer learning much more nuanced than a regular MBA programme. Several notable alumni of this programme are placed in leadership positions in various organisations. Graduating students and new applicants to the programme may note that IIM Calcutta is engaged with the Ministry of Education (MoE) and other IIMs to address the concerns of the MoE related to the programme. Being fully owned by the Government of India as an institute of eminence, IIM Calcutta has sought the Ministry’s support in running its best-positioned programmes. The final status of the certificate (Degree or Diploma) will be contingent on the outcome of the deliberations with the Ministry.

Applicant may opt out of staying inside the campus and continue the programme?

No, you cannot. It is a one-year full-time residential programme

Please share the recommendation/referee format/process, to know how the recommendation provider is required to submit the recommendation?

Please be informed that, during filling in the application form, once the applicant fills in the details of her recommendation providers, along with their official email IDs, and saves the recommendation section by clicking on the Save & Continue button, an automated referral link will be triggered and automatically shared with their referees’ mail IDs, following which they may be able to make an online submission of their Letters of Recommendation. Once the applicants complete the application and submit the same by making the necessary application fee payment through the payment gateway, those auto-submitted Letters of Recommendation will get aligned with the respective applications.

Please clarify the difference between the “Job Description” and “Role”? Where should the applicant mention her work achievements?

Job description : Describe the job you perform in your current organization; e.g. as a senior consultant I lead…. Roles : Elaborate mention of the various roles you have performed in one or more organizations, for e.g. Senior Consultant in X. You can mention your work achievements in the role or job description.

Who may write a recommendation for applicant?

Anybody who has known you in the capacity of an evaluator at your workplace (not colleagues or clients) may write a recommendation.

Will the Articleship/Internship be counted as work experience for the CAs?

Articleships / Internships will not be counted as full time work experience. Only full time W.E. on completion of the 10+2+3 years of formal education will be considered.

Can candidates who are reapplying register with the same email ID?

No. Candidates who are reapplying need to register with a fresh email ID. They cannot login with the email ID used earlier.

Can GMAT scores be updated and submitted later on for consideration?

Scores of GMAT exams submitted along with the applications will be considered only.
