1. About the MBAEx Programme

The MBAEx Programme of IIM Calcutta is a one-year full-time residential post-graduate programme for executives with a minimum five years of work experience following their graduation / post-graduation degree. MBAEx provides mid-career professionals the ideal platform to develop their existing skill sets as they prepare themselves for transitions, upscaling and adding value to their own career profiles as well as to the management roles in the industry.

2. Eligibility Criteria for Admission to MBAEx Programme

The eligibility criteria for applying to MBAEx programme is:

1. A full-time Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 15 years of study (10+2+3 or 10+2+4) or equivalent in any discipline
2. At least 60% marks or equivalent at 10th standard and 12th standard
3. At least 60% or equivalent at graduation, and higher degrees including post-graduation (if applicable) OR at least 50% in CA/ICWA/CS or Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India (FIAI).
4. At least five years of full-time professional experience following graduation degree, calculated as on 31st March 2027.
5. Valid GMAT Score (within last 36 months from 01 August 2026)
6. Minimum GMAT score equivalent to 50th percentile^{1 2}
   1. Percentiles / Scores are as reported on the candidate's official GMAT score report.
   2. Percentile cut-offs apply uniformly regardless of whether the candidate's GMAT score is from the Classic or Focus Edition.
   3. If the exact stated percentile does not correspond to a published score-percentile pair in GMAC's concordance table, the nearest raw score whose published percentile is at or above the required threshold shall be considered and not a score whose percentile falls below it.

Applicants fulfilling the above criteria are eligible to apply and shall be invited for PI and WAT. The number of candidates to be called in each round of interviews is at the discretion of the Institute.

Please note:

1. Minimum eligibility in any of the above mentioned stages or criteria would not automatically qualify the candidate for admission into IIM Calcutta.
2. Any misrepresentation of information by the candidate shall disqualify the application, and any further action is at the discretion of IIM Calcutta.
3. Any dispute concerning Admissions for the MBAEx Batch 2027-28 shall be subject to jurisdiction of competent courts within the territorial jurisdiction of the city of Kolkata only.

3. Application Process

The application process for MBAEx for the admissions cycle for admissions to AY 2027-28 shall be in three stages.

3.3 Stage 3: Results and roll-out of admissions offers

1. At the end of Round 1 interview process a limited number of admissions offers shall be rolled out to candidates at the top of the rank list.
2. The remaining candidates’ scores will remain valid till the end of Round 2 interview process and all of them will be deemed to be on the waitlist.
3. At the end of Round 2 interviews a final pooled rank list shall be created including candidates on the waitlist from Round 1 and all candidates interviewed in Round 2 to create the final merit list, and offers rolled out thereafter.

4. Composite Score For Final Selection

Final selection will be based on the rank order generated after calculation of a composite score. Table 1 provides the parameters and weightages thereof for the composite score calculation. The method of calculation of score for each parameter is detailed subsequently.

Composite score for each candidate shall be computed as a weighted average of the points obtained across all parameters.

4.1 Parameters 1 & 2: Points Computation for Class X and XII Marks is as per Table 2A

Please note:

1. For candidates whose bachelor's degree result is reported as a CGPA rather than a percentage, the conversion formula applied will be as per the formula issued by their University/Institute. However, if their University/Institute confirms that there is no conversion formula for conversion of CGPA to percentage, then it will be calculated by dividing the CGPA obtained by the candidate by the maximum possible CGPA and multiply the resultant by 100.
2. For candidates who have post-graduate degree(s) and/or multiple bachelor’s degrees, the completed bachelor’s degree / post-graduate degree that is commensurate with the claimed full-time work experience will be considered for calculation of the composite score.

4.3 Parameter 4: Points Computation for Diversity is as per Table 2C

³ Only those candidates who are fully sponsored by their employer will be considered as “Sponsored Candidates”.

Diversity Points = Sum of points obtained from Table 2C above capped at a maximum of 5 points.

4.4 Parameter 5: Points Computation for Work Experience is as per Table 2D

The calculation is done based on the length of service in completed months (x), as on March 31 of the year of joining, i.e., 2027. Points peak for candidates with 85 to 108 months of experience and taper for both shorter and longer tenures, as per Table 3 below:

Please note:

1. Only full-time work experience after completion of at least a bachelor's degree will be considered for this calculation. Internship/apprenticeship/articleship/training/project/work done as an integral part of a curricular requirement, or any type of unpaid work, will not be considered.
2. Work experience claimed by the candidate must be supported by a letter from the employer(s) with authorized signatory on company letterhead stating the start date, end date, position/designation, and a brief description of the role/responsibility, along with payslip(s) from each employer. For self-employed and family businesses, proof of company registration/relevant licenses/taxes paid are to be furnished in case payslips are not available.

4.5 Parameter 6: Points Computation for GMAT

For the edition of GMAT test undertaken,

A = Candidate's GMAT Total Score Obtained by candidate
B = Maximum possible GMAT Total Score for the edition undertaken (805 for the Focus Edition; 800 for the Classic Edition)

GMAT Points = ((A minus Min Accepted GMAT Score) / (B minus Min Accepted GMAT Score))

Please note: Online GMAT (Take home) exam scores are not valid, only test centre GMAT scores are valid.

4.6 Parameter 7: Points Computation for Written Aptitude Test (WAT)

Written Aptitude Test (WAT) shall be conducted as part of the interview process in a pen and paper format that will be scored out of 15.

4.7 Parameter 8: Points Computation for Personal Interview (PI)

A = Candidate’s score in PI
B = Maximum possible score in PI

5. Deferment of Admission

A candidate who has received an offer of admission may request deferment of admission to the subsequent academic year stating grounds for the same along with their request. The Institute shall review each request on a case-to-case basis. The Institute reserves the right to accept or reject any request received for admission deferral.

The following shall apply to all requests for admission deferral:

1. The validity of the offer of deferred admission would be only for one year, i.e., for the next academic year only.
2. Candidates should express their willingness to join the programme in the following year by an announced date that would be communicated by the Institute, usually before the offers for that academic cycle are rolled out.
3. All documentary proof sent in support of the deferral request should be found acceptable by the Institute.
4. On acceptance of the above-mentioned terms and conditions and subject to approval by the Institute, a seat may be retained for the candidate requesting deferred admission for the next academic session.
5. The fees paid by the candidate at the time of acceptance of the offer shall be retained and adjusted against next year’s fees at the applicable rate for that year. This would be treated as a deferment fees to retain the seat. Deferment is an additional privilege and deferment fees would be non-refundable, to be forfeited if the candidate does not join the programme next year.
